Christ says to ASK him for nothing, and that we will do GREATER works than him.
People miss the verses immediately before the Lord's prayer, where Jesus states that we need to not ask for a thing, because our creator KNOWS already. And to instead pray to the father that is unseen, meaning, take no thought.
Close your eyes. Replenish your spirit with a 'factory reboot' so to speak. Then....
The Lord prayer, which is more of a statement, stating AFTER meditating in empty mind, the acceptance that we live in a fallen world and that whatever happens, happens, and you are ok with that, and forgive others who might treat you like shit and to give you the strength to see through it and forgive them until the next time you reboot.
Isn't prayer invocation?
I suppose it CAN be...
Otherwise, true biblical prayer, per Jesus, is to "take no thought"
ie; meditation with an empty head space.
And the Lord's prayer is simply a statement of being at peace with the fact that "whatever happens happens, and I am ok with that"
The Lord's Prayer is an instruction manual.
Open by praising God, pray for His will to be done above all else, make requests for needs, forgiveness of sins, and close by praising God.
I can dig this. Kinda like only cleaning the outside of the cup.
Exactly.

Here is a pretty good article about prayer. There is a part 2 as well.
