The con artist/grifter has many tricks and guises, but all have the common theme of preying on the greed of the mark. Get-rich-quick schemes are by far the most common ploy to bait the greedy and the gullible. The number of successes out there fuel the hopes and aspirations of the masses. Virtually every "investment" with a "guaranteed" return is either a very low yield or a scam. When someone approaches you with an offer of an investment, the promises of high returns is the bait. If the offer comes with a solid idea and the statement is made that there is potential for a high return, it should be accompanied by a warning that it is high risk. If not, I would recommend caution and suspicion. Great rewards are rarely achieved without great risk or great effort.
