How are you? How is George?
The snow has melted. Went from below zero temps and now at a lovely 56 degrees F. George is okay as to be expected. Has one cracked rib. Hurts when he moves. Went shopping yesterday after I cleaned out and FIFO'd our stock room. Replenished some items for later use. We should be good when SHTF; if it ever does. Going to take my sister Margie to get her 'senior' cheese commodity today. The county gives it out the last Thursday of every month. At least it gets her out of the house for a while. She enjoyed Christmas with us. Made her a nice 'to go' plate' for her later that day. Anyway, all is going well. No plans for New Year's. Just happy to be alive if the good Lord is willing. And you?
I am working remotely and I pruned my apple tree yesterday, thanks to my new telescopic electric chainsaw. I now take the time to store the branches in a big bag so they dry over the next year and also to cut the largest branches as log. Today I am preparing a foie gras for saturday. It currently is imbibing Armagnac.😋
We finally could watch the second Downton Abbey movie yesterday evening. There’s another finely crafted script by Julian Fellowes. Excellent conclusion to the whole series, laughs and tears will be there.
I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure I'll get to.
Good luck and enjoy eating your foie gras. I'm sure it will be delicious. I am back to making George his veggie dinners until he can't take the loss of no pasta or potatoes. If I can keep him on the veggies with meat only/no carbs; then his liver should heal much faster and he won't have to be drained every 3 to 4 months.
Keto indeed is the way to go. He should also prefer dry wine to beer (and fresh water above all). Try Endives with bone marrow.
Can not have Alcohol whatsoever. That is what helped put him in this situation. You see, the Lord works in mysterious ways. I had been praying for George to quit drinking for years. He drank Vodka/part German descent. And God answered my prayer when George caught Covid and since his liver was compromised, the covid attacked it. The doctors at VA had already told him for the last 5 years to stop drinking and he wouldn't do it, but the Covid swelling his abdomen did. So God answered my prayer. That was last Christmas during the holidays, and he hasn't touched a drop since. Amen.
Vodka really is strong. I am glad for him he quit.
