Please tell me nobody is shocked by this. It's essentially a wandering Alexa with a camera ffs
Good way to put it. I thought about purchasing one because I am lazy of cleaning. Many people with dogs have this, but I resisted. Good thing too.
Except it isn't.
"iRobot the company which creates Roombas reported that the images were part of a program to develop AI capabilities for their Roomba J7s and the devices were labeled with a bright green sticker that said “video recording in progress.”
Sure didn't need one after finding out what it is trying to do.
They were prototypes, all of them don't have this capability.
The comments from the CEO are laughable - like iRobot didn’t know they had video and photo technology set up in the vacuums to illicitly photograph and video people in compromising situations??? Get the fuck outta here ….
My question is this; I haven’t seen it asked …. ‘If they had photo and video tech in these vacuums; what about voice recording???’ Seems pretty convenient the CEO has fired the service provider, promises a bullshit investigation and pledges to do better? Convenient little bow to wrap it all up?! Nice and neat like! But what’s the CEO & iRobot really hiding? Voice recording transcripts? Targeted victims? Imagine the blackmail you could create w/ this vacuum recording your every move, your every word…. Unbelievable!! These companies are criminal organizations!!
