I see what you're saying (just went and looked). I'm able to do a direct download, not sure what format that is (complete with the embedded ads and crap) on one device (running chrome) and on a different device (Apple) I save it in Books (again, with all the extraneous ads). Don't need an account, but it's not a "clean" (no ads) version like a pdf would be.
