This is about trying to prosecute the "alternate electors" and seeking testimony on Trump pressuring them to overturn the election.

I don't see any reason to think Smith is on Trump's side. He's seeking testimony from people he knows hate Trump, he was given the job by people who hate Trump, the entire reason his job was created is to try to prosecute Trump and anyone who defends Trump.
