From personal observation, it seems like the majority of people who fall for these fake articles tend to be older. Usually 65+.
I'm not sure if it's because the internet came pretty late in their lives, and they are just not as computer savvy as others. Or if they come from a time where they are just more trusting.
Maybe society in general will be better at determining fake articles as the older generations die out. I certainly hope so. At least it will cut down a lot of the grandmas and aunties forwarding email about Bill Gates donating a nickel to something every time it is forwarded and other such chain emails. 🤦♀️
Please don't get upset if you're older and can tell a fake story from a real one. I didn't say every older person does this.
