This is the deepest yet in that area, about 30 km. The earlier big one and aftershocks were all about 18 km deep.
The shallow ones are the worst, right?
It would seem so, but I can't comment on that, too many variables. Like, what's just above it? What I'm wondering is whether this is relieving the pressure built up by the tectonic plates, or adding to it. The last super earthquake along the PNW happened when it all let loose atvonce and the whole coast fell down a few inches.
