MySpace sold out. That's my theory. That, or they refused to in order to monetize and went bankrupt.

I had a MySpace back then and couldn't figure out why anyone would prefer Facebook when MySpace shut down.

I didn't get a Facebook until a few years ago for work, and have deleted it since. I'd take the old MySpace any day, even today.
