Ending this charade is simple. McCarthy simply needs to stand up and say, "It's clear to me that I do not have the necessary votes to be Speaker. I respectfully withdraw my name from any consideration."

If he had the courage and strength to actually be speaker, he would have the courage to say this. He doesn't have this courage or strength, which means he would be an ineffective speaker, and this means the clown show shall continue.
