I don't know what Trump is up to, but he despises the swamp and he is doing this for a reason.

It could be he knows what is going to happen and it is important that he is not seen to be the one behind the events.

So in my thinking, whatever the MAGA caucus is trying to do will fail. And this might not be a bad thing in the long run.
