Bannon spoke the quiet part out loud today
WHY NOT TRUMP?
He said let's get Trump in as Speaker. Think maybe that was the plan all along? It's what Killary and Co. feared the most. Maybe Trump supported McCarthy knowing he didn't have the votes to be speaker and took advantage of the optics. Would Trump have the votes? If not, he'd sure see who was truly against him in 2024. Imagine if Trump was Speaker and quarterbacked his core MAGA to investigate Biden and Kamala. Enough would be uncovered rather quickly that they would have to step aside and Trump steps into the WH as third in line to Presidency.
All this might sound far fetched but after the last 2 years, nothing would surprise me.
It doesn't add up for McCarthy to win either. If he is this ineffective to start with, he's not going to be effective as speaker. He needs to withdraw his name from consideration and put his own nomination to rest. That is, if he want to do what's right for the country, which is doubtful.
BTW: That's not my down vote. I appreciate your opinion and respect it.
201 is a hell of a lot closer to 218 then 20 is
Does 201 = 218? Does 20 = 218? No. Both do not. That's all that matters.
I think its funny how "The Squad" ran roughshod over the dems for the last two years and got all kinds of crazy green new deal, woke bullshit passed, but when 4 times as many Patriots stand up to make a point, all of a sudden it's off limits and not fair and not cordial.
I'm not saying it's not fair and not cordial. I'm saying there are just as many 'Only McCarthy's' as there are 'Never McCarthys' and for that reason 201 is closer than 20.
If you want to put money on it I'll send you my Venmo
I understand what you are saying and I agree one number is larger than the other. Your math is certainly correct on that. It just seems to me that after 9 or 10 tries, the 20 aren't going anywhere. What could be done would have been done, and that hasn't worked.
The one area I could maybe see McCarthy getting in is if they change the rules for how to elect the speaker. That wouldn't surprise me at all. We saw that nearly every day under Pelosi.
If the rules to elect speaker stay the same, we could be watching this for weeks or months. No government is better than a government that keeps digging the hole deeper. It's not like the republicans can pass any laws. The dems have the senate and white house. It's all clown show whether it's this or holding hearings with strongly worded letters.
If McCarthy wins with current rules I will send you a really good meme. Something real nice. Something to maybe hang on the wall.
