Now, I see it as nailing some aspects of the book better than I could have imagined.
It's very focused, trying to summarize. It does it well. Like an hors d'oeuvres, and you can have the whole ass meal reading the books if you want. It's just a preview, and a good one.
For me, a person who prefers variety, films and shows that I can digest in hours as opposed to days and weeks, offer quite the buffet of tapas. It's not that I don't enjoy a good read, but the combination of visuals and audio, especially the musical score, brings the story to life in a far more gripping way than a book can...
But I do respect those who prefer reading books and agree that if adapted to film, such a production should always do justice to the original. However, not a big fan of the pompous "this movie ruined my book" elitism... have to remember, some people still literally can't read. 🙄😂
