Title for this post was originally the final paragraph in the text above, but I kept getting "An error occurred" when trying to save. I snipped out bits and pieces of the text and the title (and did that repeatedly in different ways); still got the errors.

It's an important article. I'll try to post it again with a better title later today. Feel free to do so yourself, of course.
I'm stunned by this detailed analysis, and the work that went into assembling it. The only weakness I found is the claim to provide an answer to "why." I found this section lacking, although addressed in part by coming at it through the legislative angle. What I want to know is...WHY...and who is actually pulling the strings through the decades. I think I know the answer to the question, but I'd like for someone with this investigative skill to stick their neck out, and provide sources.
