Remember Python's Argument Sketch? I'm pretty certain that some of their material was based on their own characteristics. Like Cleese arguing pointlessly, just being contradictory because that's the way he is.

I've known people like this is in real life. They don't seem to hold any actual opinions on things. They just take whatever stance that will cause the most friction.
