We have even better--ducks!
Do duck eggs taste the same? never had em (yeah, city boy here)
I always wondered if I ever managed to get me a piece of land if it wouldn't be way better to get ducks instead, since the eggs are bigger, do they lay em just as often as chickens?
I tried them a few years ago & didn't much care for them.
They slow down considerably in Nov/Dec But have picked up in Jan. Avging 10/day
We have a variety of types and they molt a couple of times a year, thus giving no eggs. Eggs are richer, more protein, huge yolks. More nutrients in duck vs. Chicken eggs. Great for baking. If you use the instant pot to boil eggs, the duck eggs take the nine/ nine / nine as opposed to the 6/6/6 of the chicken eggs. Took me lots of wasted eggs to figure that one out LOL
Me too. Mine are White Layer Ducks breed they lay eggs every day even during winter. We’ve been struggling to eat all the eggs before they go bad. Duck eggs are fantastic for baking and the ducks are much easier to raise than chickens.
Agree! More entertaining, also
