We got a taste just recently when some flunky copied a database incorrectly and all of the sudden a system no one's ever heard of called NOTAM shuts down and grounds every flight in the country. That was resolved in a day. But when if something more critical were affected and by something which took longer to fix? Our modern life exists because of electricity and the computer systems electricity runs. Many of our systems simply have no paper backup anymore. We have no alternative.
And of course, Elon is right too. The Bond villain, complete with think German accent is monologuing his devious plan to the world...
