The weird thing I noticed growing up 80s-90s were the ear infections kids got. Now that it's my friends kids, I feel like I hear about them getting ear infections all the time. I don't think I ever got an ear infection. Was that ever not a thing?
It wasn't a thing when I was growing up in the 60s and early 70s. One of my sister's did get an ear infection after swimming, so it wasn't a spontaneous event.
My kids (born ‘86, ‘88 and ‘93) ALL got ear infections - especially the eldest - all the time as infants (when they were also being immunized). I never had one in my whole life until I was 43 years old. Hurt like heck and I thought, “my poor babies”. I had no idea. But other than polio sugar cubes, as kids we didn’t get immunized - we all had Measles, Mumps, Rubella and chicken pox, and lived to tell about it. I did, however, have to have my tonsils out at age 5 - and my daughter the same at age 11. Other than that, we just got sick and then we got better.
