They don't want a war in the south. Period.
Like a lot of things, they think they want it but they don't.
They think being a mercenary for a foreign country against Russia is what they want..they didn't.
They think they want war in the south because they don't believe they'll have to fight it, but they don't want to see what happens if such a war occurs.
Especially since many in the north will join the south against them.
One must never forget, like 90% of United States by land mass went Trump even with cheating by Biden.
And probably a good 95%+ of gun owners voted Trump. They do NOT want a hot war. They'd be playing dress up and getting picked off from half a mile away. They'd better pray it never happens.
I don't want a war because I like being able to buy food at the grocery store.
