I have always viewed Dr. Opinions as giving their advice, but then research myself. Often you can become better informed than they are. Cured myself several times...

I do the opposite. I research first then see what the doctor advises. Then I have questions for him.
EG Yearly PCP visit, knowing he will advise all the jabs. I already know what it contains, side effects etc. So I ask him why I need aluminum, barium, strontium, mercury, formaldehyde in my body? Of what health benefit? Turns to his computer and sees what I just said and walks out of the room.
One time I asked the doc what medical school he attended because I can google for treatment info myself for free.
