I grew up in a small town, moved to Chicago in my mid twenties. I tried to stay away from politics and was completely asleep, but when I did come home to my conservative family, I was almost disowned when I said I kind of liked Bernie Sanders (this was in 2012). I was never like this before! I had voted for Bush and would get in heated debates with libs before. But the city made me lean left! Which is weird because like I said I didn’t even pay attention to politics or partake. Luckily on one of my visits back home I hooked up with my now husband and I moved in with him a few months later when my lease was up. I’ve been on a farm ever since and obviously now I’m no way near the dumbass I was before. And I hate Chicago now, want them to become their own state. Only thing I miss are the amazing restaurants.
But yeah I guess my point is, I was a victim of the group think. Makes me shudder to think if I would’ve fallen in love with a Chicago lib over my down home, 2A loving, patriotic husband.
