That's fine but what happens when China calls in the national debt on the US and all the sudden all that sweet sweet fed money that states have been getting to pave 6 or 8 lane wide roads everywhere dries up? Realize that gas taxes don't even come close to covering the cost of roads in this country, and that they are typically the single largest line item on local government balance sheets... even with the massive tax subsidy from washington. So if you want smaller government, you need to support at least creating the kind of towns and cities that look more like the ones we built in this country before WW2.
Cars are great when they are an instrument of freedom, not a prosthetic device which is required for basic survival.
