Well, it depends on one's interpretation of the Bible and the book of Revelation. If the apocalypse happens all at once and God's kingdom comes to Earth in that time then this is the final act. If it's 1,000 years of peace then satan gets one more chance, that could very well be true.
Thing is, if the Bible is outlining our path, which is ultimately God's will, then the white hats would be tasked with bringing in this next step of evolution. It would also explain their seemingly gray hat tactics of doing so.
