You know? This shit has been going on for a long time. I recall reading an article about LA once having a beautiful electric streetcar infrastructure that was more comprehensive than SF's famous streetcar system. So what caused the downfall of Los Angeles’ streetcar system? Some believe that General Motors launched a targeted program to take streetcars off the roads. In 1936, GM, along with investors Firestone Tire and Standard Oil of California, established several front companies for the express purpose of purchasing and dismantling America’s streetcar systems. Back room deals were made between the automobile industry and the city..... next thing everyone saw was the electric streetcar infrastructure being dismantled. Hello, LA today.... Now the 'climate change' nuts want to get rid of all the ICE vehicles.
When I was a kid in the 70s ,the uk had centralised milk delivery in re usable glass bottles and the uk had a fleet of Smiths electric delivery floats that whirred around in the early hours. Our pop/soda was also delivered in re usable bottles collected weekly.
Then along came the elite billioinare owned supermarket system and tetrapacked every reusable system into history.
