I remember being the guy to do all of that. Yup!
Me too! It was a smelly job but taught me a good attitude could get a good tip. But with some customers, you could never get the windows right. A streak here, a streak there, what's the big deal? That's what I was muttering to myself.
27 cents a gallon and I couldn't afford a car! Them's the good old days.
Could you afford rent/utilities for a home that was bigger than a modern "pod" on those wages?
Well No. But I was single an only wanted a roof over my head and shower access. Hot water was considered a big plus. I think the pay was $1.18/hr. I'd work a job a few months an coast as long as the money lasted.
