Long story short, my cat was preliminarily diagnosed with FIP, feline infectious peritonitis, which has created a build up of fluid in her stomach. I came across this article: https://www.theatlantic.com/science/archive/2020/05/remdesivir-cats/611341/
The author writes that remdisivir is almost identical to the FIP drug..so I’m wondering if I can replace the remdisivir with ivermectin. I have some coming from my dad in the mail but then I’d have to compound it to a smaller dose. Right now she is on prednisolone, augmentin, and Lasix to help get the fluid out of her system but the vet couldn’t find anything particularly wrong besides her white blood cell count being high. Her heart and organs are good. The x-ray didn’t show much because of the fluid build up but she suspects FIP. Has anyone here had any experience with this or ivermectin and a pet? Should I try to give it to her?
Here is reference:
"Do not exseed the general 0.2 to 1.3 mg/kg of ivermectin for cats."
