If they were honest and were looking at the history of slavery worldwide, I'd actually watch it. They aren't though. They're anything but honest.
Face it, if you're human, your ancestors were a slave at some point. Why focus only on the past 400 years? Shouldn't we take a look at the problem on a global scale? Why focus only on what became the USA? Why is there NEVER any focus on slavery that exists TODAY???
Instead, they seem to want to instill in people that slavery was endemic only to North America (specifically what became the United States). It's fucking maddening! I wish blacks would take a long hard look at who is writing their history for them ... it's mostly white progressives that own lots and lots of cats.
1619 is quite literally an alt-history work of fiction. Real historians should just scoff at it.
It needs a new title too, or more accurately a subtitle.
“The 1619 Project. . . The Secret History of the Democratic Party.”
But, it would be much better if it just completely went away.
