Interestingly, Eisenhower admitted later to assisting in the orchestration of the takedown of McCarthy- I think that was probably one of the things that led him to his "military industrial complex" speach. Ike- hate to say it- was swamp.
Interested in your thoughts on this. I liked Ike for quite a while...then I learned about the Rhine Meadows camps where German Pow's were starved and kept out in the weather (and they died en-mass)...the use of Bio weapons in Korea (and the cover up run by the CIA, where they invented the term "Brainwash" and smeared American soldiers who were POW's)- and the biggie- his closeness with the Dulles brothers. One biographer claims that John Foster Dulles (The Sec. State one) wrote most of Eisenhowers foreign policy campaign speaches. In my opinion, the Dulles brothers were every bit as evil as Soros, Klaus Schwab, Bill Gates etc and possibly even more so.
Ike was in over his head, and finally realized that his own appointees had become part of the problem. He eventually warned the country in his farewell address.

I think he was half swamp / half patriot.
