The years 2019, 2020, 2021 ... were those with the highest numbers of people aged 90 or 100 in Germany and Europe.
So already early in 2020 it was obvious that most dying of the Rona (or influenza!) were those over 75 years old and according to the demographics there were more of them living and therefore also dying.
All the Rona restrictions and treatments helped also a lot to let this demographic group die in high numbers.
