Earlier than that, like the late 80s. Now you can't even say the titles of chart hits in public, and even more would need censoring to play in public. And for some of those, there wouldn't be much left.

I may have accidentally seen a few minutes of the Grammy Awards many decades ago, but I've never actually watched the show.
