When I was at Church yesterday, the sermon was of how we treat one another because of what we are made - Salt of the Earth.
Salt during Christ's time was a bartering commodity and was traded for anything, buying goods, trading including services and if one had a lot of it, they were "wealthy". Believe it or not...the word SALARY COMES FROM THAT WORD-SALT...TMYK!!!
Thank you for that beautiful verse...and the reminder of "whence we come from"!!!!
Also salt was their main preservative, which gave it value...and we all know what a good flavor enhancer salt is...as well as how important salt is for our bodies...amazing how the simple, earthly, non-consequentual things become so important to the Kingdom of God...
