There was a copper box issued by the Federal reserve in the amount of 3 trillion in 1936. Inside it was individual boxes of federal reserve notes for about 250 million or billion each.
When one of these boxed fell into the hands of a south american they successfully won the case in the SDNY. That was recent to 9-11, the records and gold was in the building 5 vicinity. Soon the result would be, we can't find the gold or the paperwork.
