You might be on to something. Seems COVID was about the time she took that final turn for the worse.

I can't stand not having attention-getting avenues. Therefore, I will go mutilate myself.

The old arrangements no longer being upheld has to worry her. In those early covid days she actually said "The worst thing about Covid is it makes us all equal." That mere thought was distressing to her.
