Welcome to General Chat - GAW Community Area
This General Chat area started off as a place for people to talk about things that are off topic, however it has quickly evolved into a community and has become an intergral part of the GAW experience for many of us.
Based on it's evolving needs and plenty of user feedback, we are trying to bring some order and institute some rules. Please make sure you read these rules and participate in the spirit of this community.
Rules for General Chat
-
Be respectful to each other. This is of utmost importance, and comments may be removed if deemed not respectful.
-
Avoid long drawn out arguments. This should be a place to relax, not to waste your time needlessly.
-
Personal anecdotes, puzzles, cute pics/clips - everything welcome
-
Please do not spam at the top level. If you have a lot to post each day, try and post them all together in one top level comment
-
Try keep things light. If you are bringing in deep stuff, try not to go overboard.
-
Things that are clearly on-topic for this board should be posted as a separate post and not here (except if you are new and still getting the feel of this place)
-
If you find people violating these rules, deport them rather than start a argument here.
-
Feel free to give feedback as these rules are expected to keep evoloving
In short, imagine this thread to be a local community hall where we all gather and chat daily. Please be respectful to others in the same way
I personally prefer the Europe version of Final Countdown! BTW that link is no longer available.
Heh, yeah the Europe original is a good song, but I just can't do that sort of standard-80s-glam-metal-pop or whatever.
Of course, I also vastly prefer the Devo version of "Satisfaction" to the Stones' one, so this probably explains everything.
Take THIS lol!
Edit: What kind of faggotry is having comments turned off on this. Ridiculous. Way out of line!
Edit 2: Oh and regarding link, I just checked in private window... maybe retry?
For me, nothing like the original 80s music, takes me back to the best times in 20th century, even though for Sound of Silence I prefer the disturbed version.
But I do cringe at all the times I listened and liked people like Madonna, Bruce Spingsteen, etc.
Never liked Madonna. I felt the demonic vibes dripping off that chick from day 1.
Interesting, I never got that. I think she got sucked in later in life, around the time she got REALLY MEGABIG (like Sony contract or whatever). But if you picked it up, I certainly can't fault going with it....
Oh don't get me wrong, I love 80s music. I'm a huge DM fan (though I wasn't then, ironically enough. I got into them early 90s). Pet Shop Boys are very clever guys. I just read Trevor Horn's book and can't recommend it enough, it's really awesome.
Madonna - IMO she sold her soul most unfortunately AFTER this - I will always like this track no matter what she became later. Madonna - Like A Prayer - "Immaculate Collection" version
(Edit: It's specifically the glam metal hair electro pop combo stuff I can't do. I admit Def Leppard's "Pyromania" was brilliant - though the cover indicates this is when they signed the paper, and if it's not clear see the "Hysteria" cover.)
When I look at Pyromania - all I can think of is 911.
Was Hysteria the next album they released after Pyromania? The cover for that is nothing short of satanic.
