Thailand is a monarchy. They run the military. The Thai king is quite powerful in Thailand. They’re not depowered like the British monarchy supposedly is.
Unfortunately King Vajiralongkorn isn't nearly as well liked as his father. In fact, you can probably say most Thai people dislike him. He is known for very strange sexual predilections. There is a famous video of him throwing a birthday party for his poodle (who he made a commissioned officer in the Thai army) where his consort had to walk around naked. He spends most of his time in Germany surrounded by a harem of short haired tom boys, and the Thai people are quite happy to keep it that way.
His position is somewhat tenuously supported by the Thai military. He has a small royal guard directly loyal to him, but they wouldn't be much use if the army decided to eliminate him in secret. He does have substantial power as a monarch if the military agrees with him however. But there are also many powerful factions who are making millions from Pfizer, and they very well might move to eliminate him if he did something that threatened that gravy train.
To date, the official Thai position is that no such tribunals are planned and these rumors are all false. But if global sentiment should turn against Pfizer to the point where the opposing factions no longer have a strong financial incentive to resist, that may very well change and he does have the authority to order the tribunals.
The current king is the result of a previous weak king that let his whole country become the global epicenter of promiscuous behavior and eventually have a close to national transition to shemale woke lying and trickery
