We don't have large developed lithium deposits. But what do you have against domestic petroleum production? We were a net exporter under Trump.

We could well have oil under America longer than we dig out lithium. So, it is only a matter of whether you want to have wellheads or huge craters in the Earth. And we still get to burn coal, oil, and natural gas to run "electric" cars.
