IMHO, he was killed by "friendly fire". In other words, he was murdered. I recall his leaving a promising football career with the AZ Cardinals to join the military. It was very controversial to many of us. Tiller was hyped up publicly as the greatest example America could produce for leaving his football career, wife, home, and family for serving America's military. It was a home run for the military's public relations campaign. They played Tiller up extolling him as an example for other Americans to follow. Unfortunately, Pat Tiller believed in all of this too and sincerely believed he was doing the right thing by serving his country. However, being deployed to the Middle East and doing time in both Iraq and Afghanistan, he soon learned that things we were doing there were not at all like anything we were told back in the United States. In fact, it was reported that Tillman started to become disillusioned and resented the fraud and injustices he witnessed. He complained about it and was going to expose the fraud when he returned home. Unfortunately, that moment never arrived for him due to "friendly fire". How tragic of a coincidence.
