It makes me sick to my stomach. I sent my kids to a Christian school and one of the most important questions I remember asking for the right school was if they taught cursive. It is one of the most important teachings for developing young individuals. The pen is truly greater than the keyboard. Cursive handwriting improves fine motor control and pencil grip, improves recall when note-taking because notes are synthesized, makes kids better spellers, develop better abstract thinking skills using cursive, increases comprehension and participation in learning, children become better writers, improves brain development in the areas of thinking, language and working memory, helps increase writing speed through the connected words and sentences, self-discipline improves, student self-confidence to communicate freely with the written word, improves their focus, improves creativity, helps kids generate more new ideas because it uses a larger surface area of the brain, and builds strong muscle memory and improves eye hand coordination thus enhancing learning overall.
Now why would our education system eliminate this fundamental tool? One can only wonder? Maybe reading the Cleon Skousen's βThe Naked Communist" and the 45 goals of Communism to destroy the United States might help.
