Over the last two years I have volunteered with the local GOP, worked as a local election official, and spoken out multiple times in local meetings on major proposals in the community that would have profound impact on people's lives. What I have learned is that the cabal's control (in this rural community that voted over 60% red in the last election) is corrupt at EVERY SINGLE LEVEL. For instance, in last year's congressional race, the primary was rank choice voting for the Republican candidate, who eventually lost to a democratic incumbent despite collecting over 77% in the voting precinct I monitored, due to corruption in neighboring counties.

From the mayor, the town council, the GOP chair, even when working with the local long-serving precinct committeeman, it is badly compromised. One recent set of public hearings that had almost universal disapproval of a project by the locals, got voted in with a vote that was tantamount to giving everyone the middle finger.

One solution is to run for local office (and I'm giving it thought), but the vast majority of the party locals are either dismissive of the corruption, shrug their shoulders at it, or complicit. Trying to find like minded residents in the community who even recognize the depth of the corruption is difficult, if not impossible. One person cannot do this alone. The local media is superb at portraying Trump supporters and independent thinkers as delusional/Don Quixote types. Everyone who I've seen so far try to do this has lost badly. Would like to hear your thoughts.
