If you read the history of Fukashima, it reads like every other catastrophic human fuckup of the last few centuries. Corruption, nepotism, and incompetence of bureaucracy. They had studies that basically said it was bound to happen based on its location and the geography, and had actually agreed to alter the sea wall and protection for a larger tsunami. But they just didn’t do it. The maze of government agencies that was supposed to police them is just like the US. Full of employees of the private companies that jump ship back and forth. Total regulatory capture.
No one actually made them do it. And it was almost a decade of waiting for them to do it. People in the company had the idiotic view that because it hadn’t happened in awhile, there had been no massive tsunamis, that it would never happen. That it was impossibly unlikely. So why go to all the trouble and expense of making a bigger sea wall for a black swan event that had never happened in their lifetime.
They had been told by the independent auditors and studies that that location was definitely at risk of a massive tsunami, and that their protections were not adequate. They told the government they would fix it. Then they didn’t, and no one did a damn thing about it because it would be expensive. How many times have you seen events like this happen?
The Challenger explosion, Chernobyl, the Titanic, the apartment building in downtown SF that’s gonna fucking tip over. In all cases people in charge were warned by those without economic incentive that tragedy was likely. And everything the people in charge didn’t do a damn thing about it and the government stood by and watched.
The Titanic was deliberate; you haven't gone down that rabbit hole. This is 100% airtight (pun intended)
Unrelated to this earthquake, obviously. Just saying, don't rule out the possibility of shenanigans on some level, but I do think resonant frequencies can NOT stack up tectonic plates with such tension as to create a 9.0. (Or at all) If that tension were there already, perhaps a resonant frequency could, theoretically, release that tension. But then that's an EQ that was going to happen anyway, sooner or later.
I find this hard to believe.

That'd be a very strange sort of weapon.
