Hospice care is a type of specialized medical care that focuses on providing comfort and support to people who are facing a terminal illness or near the end of life. Hospice care is designed to improve the quality of life of the patient and their family, and it is typically provided in the patient's home or in a specialized hospice facility.
In general, hospice care is intended for people who have a life-limiting illness or condition and a prognosis of six months or less to live, as determined by a physician. The goal of hospice care is to help patients manage their symptoms and maintain their comfort and dignity, rather than to cure their illness. Hospice care may involve a team of healthcare professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers, chaplains, and other specialists, who work together to address the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient and their family.

Catsfive - just went through this with my FIL last week. He went into palliative hospice care in East Texas on Tues, we flew out on Wed, we spent the night with pops on Thurs and he went home to Jesus on Friday. He was a Vietnam Vet, Air Force - they immediately lowered the Air Force flag to half staf and when they came to transport him to his next stop, they did an Honor Walk, taps and all. We personally observed the tender care, love and support they provided to not only him, but to the entire family. I know there are not so good hospice places out there and I’ve heard enough horror stories, I was not leaving him alone while I was there. Blessed to have been with him as he passed and blessed to have been in such an awesome facility! God bless those who choose to be a hospice nurse -
Thanks CatsPT
