Widespread auto updates going on?

So I just saw this post from yesterday:

Last night my Ford Bronco wanted to do an update and said the same type of things (your car won’t be accessible, etc). Never had that before in the 8 months I’ve owned it. Anyone else with a different model or brand get that? Anyone else find it strange Chevy and Ford both have the same type of update put out at the same time?

I never see anything like that. What year did they start doing this? Does it show up on your dashboard, or through an email - or what? I'd be leery if I were you.
