It wasn't the brakes, Witnesses say the axle bearings failed. But let's wait on the official report. They just pointing fingers right now.

And when it comes down to it, it doesn't matter how many braking systems you have when the inertia of an overloaded train with its wheels and axles on fire is barreling down the track at excessive speeds.
