By definition we cannot blame the mentally ill. The burden is squarely on the doctors.

If this was a minor; I would probably agree with you. If this person has been diagnosed as mentally unstable, possibly agree too

But, imagine everyone who made a bad investment, married the wrong spouse, bought the wrong car, got the wrong degree, etc; suddenly decides to blame someone else for their situation?

It decided. It sought medical advice to provide the services it wanted. It paid money up front for an elective, life altering procedure

When does it assume results for its choices?
