Turkey is home to Hierapolis, longed believed to be the "gateway to hell". Much can be researched regarding to history etc. Just a starter link from a more mainstream source. More theories exist concerning what is under Turkey. It was a questionable region in the Biblical days. So, who knows. Looks like natural gas pipelines opened up and burning off. They roar, and the flames are high. Could be something else, but that's the first thing I thought of.
They might just be flaring dirty gas,I see that here in OK. All the time.
I worked on pipelines for years. Good stuff.
