Well because of optics. Why put yourself into the spotlight in that time?

That said, I actually don't know for sure as a) I wasn't there in person and b) I'm not living in Obama's brain. So technically, I don't have a lot to base my "no reason" statement on, but I'm just using common sense. Literally everything is about optics these days, so to me it seems most obvious that this wasn't the case.
