This is simply the way everything works. It's just more blatant and in our face than ever.

This is essentially what the book that Winston received in "1984" described. The endless unnecessary production and waste of useless crap in order to maintain a false image of resource scarcity and thus a need for government to solve the very problems they have created. The military industrial complex, basically, except the war is now against all of us. We should all be living like kings, there are no shortages of anything and we do not need these bloated overcomplicated corrupt governments, period.
