I believe this is a legitimate discussion. And it may be the only way to peacefully resolve the intractable differences between regions, needs and cultures.
I believe there are gradations to this. The top level and most easily supported is to revert to the united States vice United states. By understanding the Constitution and especially the Bill of Rights as restrictive of national power we effectively reinstate the constitutional structure and achieve red and blue semi-autonomy as originally envisioned.
the next is to establish a confederation of autonomous, self-governing regions as a sort of de-fanged EU...common currency, common defense, open interstate trade and transport.Might open up some issues between regions such as re-negotiating water rights, but would mostly just be a devolution.
next would be state independence (eg, the Republic of Texas or Republic of California from our history). States are free to make pacts and treaties with other independent states. Introduces a lot of very hard challenges, but none-the-less is an option.
The final option as I see it is to have a plebiscite at the precinct level. A precinct level vote side steps the gerrymandered congressional lines and is the best way to ensure the real voice of the people is heard. Closest to popular democracy (I know we claim to be a republic, give me a break here). Creates the issue of what to do with "islands" such as Kansas City becoming a lone blue island in a sea of red. Some City States will emerge such as the megalopolis from Connecticut thru NYC and Philly and Baltimore/DC down to Norfolk and Richmond or from Charlotte to Atlanta. There are a few regions that could stand on their own. Others would need to decide whether to cede independence or join a confederation of city states (KC, Denver, Memphis, etc). Allowances and protections for migration must be carefully considered in any of these
I don't think it would solve anything in the long run.
Limiting federal government is fine, but the globalist left have permeated EVERYTHING.
No red state is without risk of falling to the left. We might dump Washington, only to find we are ruled by the UN.
