My dad was an electrician involved with steel companies and I remember when Chinese steel was coming in cheaper than American made steel and how he ranted that it was inferior, and how they were undercutting US steel production because of the price. It appears that Chinese steel and components have served their purpose...to compromise any product made with these so that there would be dysfunction...I really think they have succeeded in pulling this off...
Most of the computerized switching gear in service today on all rails is assembled in the US, but the computerized controls, switches, relays, and communications controls are all made in China. This also goes for the bulk of US made aircraft.
