Good question. Politics makes for strange bedfellows, but then so does war. After all, the Soviet Union was our ALLLY during WWII, even though we knew that one day we would be in opposition to them. They were just geographically and strategically positioned to the east of Germany, so in the spirit of "the enemy of my enemy is my friend," they became an uneasy ally.

The same might be happening between Russia and China, a temporary truce while they lick their chops over destroying a mutual enemy of the past 70 years or so. I just hope our military is up to the task of dealing with this.
